The Motivation

“All of us on the team are extremely concerned about the increase of at-risk behaviour in young people,” says Mr Jonathan Duffy, director of health for the Seventh-day Adventist Church in the South Pacific and team leader of the cycle tour. “Besides, it is a great opportunity for us to cycle across Australia!”

“I am always thinking of ways to make an impact on young people, and I know simply driving into town as a health director and giving them a talk about at-risk behaviour would not work. However, with the Circle of Courage philosophy, I hope I will be able to encourage the community to come together to nurture their young people.”

“This concept has been two years in the making, although it only started to take shape in September last year. To cycle into town and address issues of at-risk behaviour among young people in small, rural communities across Australia will be a special experience.”
